As weird as it might be. I think the Pens have more pressure. Everyone seems to be writing off the Caps before the series even starts

Adam French has it dead on... we will certainly be trolling Tanner as I've already began with him re-invoking his "luck" theory.

Can you blame people for writing off the caps so quickly?

Anyway, I'm not sure you can say the Pens have more pressure. Do two cups and the chance for a third straight create more pressure or less for them? They have dynasty potential (if they're not already one), or you could say they've already won twice, who cares if they lose.

I think the caps and the fact they keep losing to the Pens gives them more pressure. They better win game 1.

Still, I think Pens in 6 is the most realistic prediction.

Both teams have very potent offenses and very suspect defenses. I think it will come down to whichever goalie can stand on his head the most. Of course, if one or both of the defenses can actually step up and play good defense that changes things.

from what I saw, Pens should steam roll the Caps

Random variance is real and a 7 game series is a small sample size that can be drastically impacted by that variance.

Nobody should write anyone off. This Pens team is, on paper, better than last year's team. However, there are more systematic issue IMO with this Pens team.

This is going to be an incredibly close series, especially if there's no Malkin. Even with a Malkin at 100% I can't see this series going less than seven games.

Yes I can, they have one of (if not) the greatest goal scorer of all time. Backs, Kuz, Oshie, Carlson, Holtby etc. Last year was the first year they really had a good team before that it was one line.

Historically they have outplayed every team they come up against int he playoffs (even when they lost, and no i don't believe the "choke" narrative).

I think the series could go either way and I have players from both teams in my hockey pool so it's a win win for me hahaha.

I'm just hoping for a good hard playing series.

Writing off is a poor choice of words, but I think most would argue the Pens are the favorites.

I don't think that will be a problem. Wilson and Hornqvist will make sure of that.

i agree. i think his 1st point on goaltending is dead on and will decide the series.

Clearly every series comes down to scoring more than the other team or stopping more than the other team, however you want to look at it.

That being said, some series have more to do with extremes of scoring or extremes of goaltending. This one definitely relies more on goaltending.

Last year the Pens were severely outchanced and Holtby wasn't able to come up when he needed to. I think this year will be very much the same narrative to whichever team wins.

I think whichever team can win more games than the other will win this series. We've seen that happen with other teams and I think these two teams will be no different. Will be interesting to see.

To say Malkin and Sheahan are night and day is completely accurate. But from an effectiveness standpoint I like Sheahan's chances of looking like a stud this round. He's physical, solid on draws, sound defensively, and picks his spot in the offensive zone. I bet he picks up around a point per game this series on route to a Pens victory. Probably goes to the tune of +4 or 5 while he's at it
